The 2007 Dodge Charger's headlight assembly protects the headlight bulb and provides a way for the headlight to project onto the road so that you can see while driving. Replacing the headlight assembly is only necessary when there is damage to the original. For example, moisture inside the headlight assembly is somewhat normal; however, if the moisture collects and does not completely evaporate, it can accumulate on the bulb and cause an electrical short or catastrophic headlight failure. Purchase replacement headlight assemblies from most auto parts stores. The best fit and finish comes from a factory original replacement.
Open the hood and remove the screws that hold the headlight housing to the chassis using a Phillips-head screwdriver.
Slide the headlight housing forward.
Push down on the retaining tab on the top of the power connector running to the headlight and then pull the connector off of the headlight.
Remove the retaining ring on the headlight housing. To do this, wedge a flathead screwdriver between the back of the headlight and the retaining ring and pry the ring off of the headlight. This ring holds the headlight in place.
Pull the headlight out of the back of the headlight housing assembly.
Pull the headlight assembly all the way out of the chassis.
Slide the new headlight assembly partially into the chassis. Insert the headlight and snap the retaining ring over the headlight to hold it to the new housing. The rest of the installation is the reverse of removal.
