How to Fix Wiper Motors on the Honda Civic

The wiper motor on your Honda Civic uses a printed circuit board to control the function of your wipers. When the windshield wipers on your Civic hesitate or slow down, you might need to replace the motor. Replacement windshield-wiper motors for your Civic can be purchased from most auto-parts store. However, you can try to fix the motor by simply replacing the wiper-motor circuit board. Replacement circuit boards can only be purchased from a junkyard, however.

Things You'll Need

  • Phillips-head screwdriver
  • Open the hood of your Civic and unplug the electrical connector from the wiper motor.

  • Remove the three screws that hold the wiper-motor casing in place.

  • Pull the casing off of the wiper motor.

  • Remove the printed circuit board module by lifting up on it and pulling it out of the wiper-motor casing.

  • Insert the new circuit board module.

  • Secure the wiper-motor casing with the mounting screws.

  • Reconnect the wiper motor's electrical connector.
