How to Remove a KIA Spectra Glove Compartment

If you need to complete certain repair tasks on your Kia Spectra, such as replacing the blower motor or the cabin air filter, you will need to remove the inner lining of the glove compartment. Fortunately, this task is simpler than on other types of passenger cars, because you don't have to cut panels out of the glove compartment. Most novice mechanics will be able to successfully remove the glove compartment from a Kia Spectra in under 30 minutes.

Things You'll Need

  • Screwdriver
  • Take out and store the contents of the glove compartment. Remove the screws from around the edge of the glove compartment liner with a screwdriver.

  • Remove the screws under the dashboard that hold the glove compartment to the dash assembly.

  • Look inside the glove compartment for black plugs on each side. Not all Kia Spectras have these plugs. If you locate them, use the edge of a flat-head screwdriver to pry them loose.

  • Remove the screws holding the glove compartment latch in place. Put slight pressure on the inside of the glove compartment liner with your fingers and pull it out of the dashboard assembly.
