How to Remove Car Door Panels from a Saturn

In order to fix problems inside the door of your Saturn, like damaged windows, broken locks or speaker repairs, you need to know how to remove the car door panels. Removing the door panels on a Saturn is a fairly simple process that should only take around an hour.

Things You'll Need

  • Knife
  • Screwdriver
  • Torx screwdriver
  • Pry bar
  • Lift the panel cover off the top of the screws. Use a thin-blade knife to gain access to the screws that hold the panel in place. Work carefully to avoid scratching the panel.

  • Remove the screw in the window corner panel, a triangular panel that sits in the front of the window on top of the door panel. Use a screwdriver to lift the cover away from the window.

  • Carefully pull the crank door handle away from the panel. Use a small pry bar with a flat blade. Switch sides with the pry bar to pull the door handle away evenly until it is removed from the panel.

  • Unfasten the screws in the door handle cover plate and lift the plate off the door panel. Undo the remaining screws in the door panel to detach it from the door frame.

  • Pull the bottom of the panel away from the door frame carefully and unfasten the plastic clips behind the door panel. Repeat the process for the top of the door panel until it is free from the door frame.

  • Unhook the electrical speaker wires that are attached to the back of the speaker in the door panel. Disconnect the door-latch linkage and door-lock connectors behind the panel. Lift the door panel away from the vehicle.
