People who own the 2003 to 2004 Chevy Avalanche often find a problem with their heated power seats. Sometimes it can be difficult to determine where your problem is since the power seats have many functions related to only two buttons. Use the following tips to check the functionality of all the features of the heated power seats and diagnose the problem.
Put the key in the ignition, turn it and make sure that the engine is running.
Locate the two buttons on the door that indicate the heated power seat operation.
Know that the RH button will heat all of the seat, both the cushion and back. The LH button only makes the seat's back hot. To tell how hot the seats are, you can check the three light bar indicators.
Inspect the functionality of the seat's back and seat's cushion. Press the RH button once and find that the three light bars tell you that the seat is heated on high. Tap the button one more time. Look for a medium heating setting indicated. Push the button again and have the bars indicate the lowest heat setting. Turn off the heat by pressing the button a fourth time.
Test the seat's back by pressing the LH button. Find that the light indicates that only the seat's back is heated. The three lights will indicate that the seat is heated to its highest possible temperature. Tap the button again so that the power seat's back will be heated to medium and show only two bars. Press the button again and find the heat at its lowest setting with only one bar showing. Push the button again so that the heat turns off.
Tap your switches if you find a problem in any one. Small bumps have been known to affect their functionality. Give them light taps to see if it restores functionality.
Change your seat heater resistance to 1.5 to 5.5 ohms. This is an updated range and can solve your power seat problems. Make sure to keep the values between this range to avoid future problems.
