How to Remove Lo-Jack From My Car

LoJack is a stolen vehicle recovery system that allows police to track and recover your car if it has been stolen. The LoJack unit is hidden in one of 30 places in your car by a certified technician. You might want to remove the LoJack system if you feel you no longer have a need for it. Due to the LoJack system's complexity, go to only a certified technician to have this done.

  • Get your car's Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). The VIN can be found on your vehicle registration or on the LoJack ID card.

  • Call 1-800-4-LoJack (1-800-456-5225) to set up an appointment with a LoJack technician. Make sure to tell the customer service representative that you want to have LoJack removed. There is a $79 fee (as of November 8, 2010) for the appointment with the LoJack technician. This does not include the cost of removing the LoJack system.

  • Go to the place of business of the LoJack technician on the day of your appointment. They will find and inspect the LoJack system and give you a price for its removal. If you are OK with the price, tell them to proceed and they will remove the unit from your car.
