Ford Windstar Radio Removal

Modern car radios provide a variety of exciting features such as MP3 playback, satellite radio integration, and even DVD video support. Before you can get your new stereo installed, you'll have to remove your old one. Removal is easier than you might think; all it takes is a set of DIN Tools (which you can pick up from your local auto parts store) and a little bit of time to get your stereo out and ready for replacement.

Things You'll Need

  • DIN Tools
  • Locate the holes on either side of the radio. They may have a plastic cover hiding them. There should be two holes on either side.

  • Slide the tips of one of the DIN tools into the holes on one side of the stereo. Repeat on the other side of the stereo with the other DIN tool.

  • Push the tools into the stereo as far as they will go without being forced.

  • Pull the tools away from each other. You should feel the stereo locks disengage, allowing you to pull the tools toward you.

  • Pull the radio all the way out of the dash. Disconnect the wiring harness and antenna from the back of the unit.
