The factory car stereo in most cars doesn't always have the features that most people want. And since there are new features coming out every day--including Bluetooth integration, DVD players and subwoofer outputs--upgrading your factory stereo is a reasonable option. In this case, the project vehicle is a 1999 Acura Integra, but the process is similar for most vehicles.
Lean onto the floorboard of the car and put your head between the end of the front console and the firewall, looking up toward the back of the dashboard. Use the flashlight to find the two bolts on the back of the deck that hold the stereo in place.
Unscrew the two screws on the back of the stereo using a phillips-head screwdriver. Then push the deck out slightly using your right hand so that you can grip it from the front side.
Pull the stereo out of the front side of the dashboard and unplug the wiring harness from the back of the deck as well as the antenna lead.
