How to Set the Radio Preset in a Sony

Sony's line of stereo units includes a varied assortment of models. While the selection is among the widest in the industry, the procedures for operation remain relatively standard across the brand. The ability to preset radio station frequencies is a luxury that affords users the option of pressing one button to tune to the channel of their choice. Setting the radio preset stations on a Sony is a simple task.

  • Turn on the Sony radio by pressing the Source button located at the top left of the stereo's face.

  • Press the Source button until "Tuner" is selected on the radio's display.

  • Press Mode (located below the Source button) to select the band from which you would like to choose a station frequency. The choices are "FM1," "FM2," "FM3" or "AM."

  • Press the SEEK/AMS button at the top, to choose higher frequencies, or at the bottom for lower frequencies. Release the button once the display shows the desired station frequency.

  • Press and hold the button labeled "1" until the word "MEM" appears in the display. The frequency selected is now preset to the PRESET 1 button. Repeat this process using the rest of the six numbered buttons to set five additional preset station frequencies.

  • Press the PRESET 1-5 buttons to return to the corresponding frequencies once they have been programmed.
