Removing a Clarion Radio

Installing a stereo in your car can be a positive experience. Anytime you change your setup, you may need to pull out your stereo to redo the connections. Removing a Clarion radio from the dashboard isn't difficult, and should take about 5 minutes with the proper tools.

Things You'll Need

  • Clarion in-dash stereo
  • Clarion hook plates
  • Press the detachable face release button on the face of the stereo and pull off the face using your hands. Place it to the side where it can't get damaged.

  • Hold the bottom of the trim piece that goes around the perimeter of the stereo and push it up to remove it from the stereo body. Place it to the side where it can't get damaged.

  • Place the Clarion hook plates into the sides of the stereo on the vertical edges, about the middle of the deck, until they click into place. This will free the stereo from the cage and allow you to pull it out.

  • Pull the stereo out by the hooks and remove it from the cage. Once the stereo is out of the cage completely, unplug the antenna lead and the wiring harness from the back of the stereo.
