The Fisher Homesteader Personal Plow is an aftermarket snowplow kit designed for mounting on a variety of popular sport utility vehicles, pickup trucks and 4x4 models. The Homesteader is suitable for clearing light to moderate snowfall from a driveway, private road and parking lot. The plow has easy on/off mounting to an under-frame installation kit specifically designed for your vehicle model. A hand-held controller inside the vehicle operates the hydraulic tilt, lift and angle functions of the plow blade. The blade is 6-3/4-feet wide and 21 inches high. At full angle, it has a plowing width of 70 inches. Installation procedure for the Toyota Tacoma entails bolting the installation kit to the vehicle, then attaching the plow to the mounts.
Remove the tow hook and tie-down brackets from underneath the front of the vehicle. Remove the bolts securing the left and right end caps from the vehicle's front cross-member and remove the end caps. Remove the skid plate if the vehicle is equipped with one.
Place the mount up against the cross-member so the mount's rear arms fit behind the cross-member. Line up the slots in the mount with the end cap bolt holes in the bottom of the cross-member. Use C-clamps to clamp the mount in place.
Thread a washer on one of the mounting bolts with the shorter handles and pass it through the bottom slot in the mount and the end cap bolt hole in the cross-member. Thread a lock nut on the bolt inside the cross-member and tighten.
Use the holes in the front of the mount as templates to drill a 17/32-inch hole through the front of the cross-member on both sides of the vehicle.
Thread a washer on one of the mounting bolts with the shorter handles and pass it through the end of the cross-member and out through the 17/32-inch hole in the cross-member. Thread a lock nut on the bolt and tighten. Repeat procedure on the 17/32-inch mounting hole on the other side of the vehicle.
Tighten all fasteners to the manufacturer's recommended torque.
Press the rear arm stiffeners against the bottom of the vehicle frame. Use the holes in the stiffeners as a template to drill 17/32-inch holes through the frame on both sides of the vehicle.
Bend the long-handled bolts according to the manufacturer's illustration. Insert the bolt into the side of the frame and pass it out through the 17/32-inch hole in the frame. Thread a lock nut on the bolt and tighten. Repeat procedure for the 17/32-inch hole on the other side of the vehicle.
Bend back the ends of any long bolt handles protruding from the truck frame.
Verify that the two connecting pins on the vehicle mount are fully retracted.
Position the plow assembly with the blade vertical in front of the vehicle, centered on the vehicle mount.
Attach jack struts to both sides of the plow assembly and adjust the height to support the plow level and in line with the vehicle mount.
Drive the vehicle slowly up to the mount and engage the plow attachment arms with the receiver slots in the mount.
Twist the connecting pins on the vehicle mount to release them, then manually press the plow assembly into the vehicle until the connecting pins engage with the holes in the plow attachment arms.
Remove the jacks from both sides of the plow assembly. Connect the electrical cable to the vehicle's auxiliary DC power outlet. Route the cable to the plow's remote controller inside the vehicle.
