How to Adjust Aldan Shocks

Aldan is a manufacturer of custom shock absorbers and coilovers, including shocks that are adjustable. These adjustments allow you to fine tune the ride quality of your car or truck by stiffening or softening the ride of the shock. This allows you to adjust the ride of the car to be soft for daily driving, or stiffen it up to go to the track. To adjust the shocks, you just need a few minutes and one tool.

Things You'll Need

  • Flashlight
  • Shine the flashlight behind the wheel of the vehicle and locate the upper shock mount, which is typically on the top of the frame or on the sub-frame. Locate the adjustment knob on the top of the shock with the flashlight.

  • Turn the adjustment knob counter-clockwise to soften the ride of the vehicle, or turn the knob clockwise to stiffen the ride. Count the number of turns that you make (the knob clicks into place with each turn).

  • Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the corner on the opposite side of the vehicle. For example, if you adjusted the driver's side front corner, you need to adjust the passenger side front corner.

  • Take the vehicle for a test drive. Determine if the ride quality is where you want it, and if not, repeat steps 1 to 3 to readjust the shocks.
