How to Sell Rims

Custom cars may be different across all genres, but one thing that they all have in common is a cool set of rims. A new set of wheels can completely change the look of a vehicle, and when you swap out to a different set, it's quite noticeable. So how do you sell your old rims so that you can move on to the new ones? Don't worry, it's super easy, with different options available so that you can keep rolling on fresh wheels.

Things You'll Need

  • Internet Connection
  • Computer

How to Set Price

  • Determine a selling price. If the rims are by themselves and don't come with tires, then take the price that you purchased them for and cut it in half. Generally, wheels sell for about half of what they go for new without tires. If they come with tires, or the bolt pattern is for a particularly popular vehicle, then you may be able to add a bit to the price. You can also look for the same wheels on other websites to compare pricing.

  • List them on Craigslist. It's hugely popular, and it's free to list items. You may have to list the rims several times on Craigslist, but it's a free and easy way to get them sold.

  • List them in a local paper. There is generally a fee to list items in the classified section, but it expands your market.

  • Put them on eBay. It doesn't cost much to list items on eBay, but there are a lot of things to consider. If you don't use a reserve, you may sell them for less than you want. You also have to consider shipping costs, and shipping wheels isn't easy.
