Chevrolet trucks with front bucket seats come with side-mounted seat armrests, rather than a flip-down center armrest. There is one armrest on the right side of the driver's seat and one on the left side of the passenger's seat. Replacing either armrest is the same. If you are replacing the truck's armrest with an aftermarket armrest, examine the package instructions to ensure it doesn't attach to a seat in a different method than the factory default. If it does, follow the specific package directions.
Turn off the Chevy truck's engine and engage the emergency brake for safety. Push the seat armrest to the "Down" position. It should be positioned horizontally.
Insert your fingers between the armrest and seat fabric. You'll see the metal shaft the armrest attaches to. On the metal shaft, you'll see a small clip shaped like a "U" or "C."
Push the open end of the "U" or "C" clip with a pair of needle nose pliers or a flathead screwdriver. The clip will pop out of its mount. Grab the other end when it does and pull it out of the shaft.
Grasp the armrest and pull it off. With the clip out, it slides right off.
Attach the new armrest to the shaft. Insert the clip back into its mount on the shaft to secure it. Push it firmly into place with the flathead screwdriver or needle nose pliers.
