How to Install Car Wrap

Car wraps are graphic designs that give your car a unique look. With car wraps, you can customize your own car to fit your own style and stand out from a sea of cars in traffic. Car wraps are also used as an advertising medium for company cars or consumer good manufacturers. Your car can be a mobile advertising machine, reaching out to more people as you drive around town.

Things You'll Need

  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Water
  • Cloth
  • Measuring tape
  • Vinyl wrap
  • Pencil
  • Squeegee
  • Scissors
  • Razor blade
  • Hair dryer
  • Tape primer
  • Mix equal parts rubbing alcohol and water. Wipe your car using the alcohol mixture and a clean cloth. Make sure to remove all the dirt on the surface of your car. The rubbing alcohol mixture also removes any grease on your car's surface.

  • Measure the area of your car that you want to cover with the vinyl.

  • Using the measuring tape and a pencil, lightly draw on the vinyl the design that you have decided to use for your car wrap. Then cut out the design with a pair of scissors.

  • Remove the backing of the vinyl. Do not remove the whole backing to prevent the vinyl from sticking to itself but remove the backing section by section. This will make it easier for you to stick the vinyl design on the car.

  • Use a squeegee to smooth out any air bubbles created when sticking the vinyl to the car. Once the whole vinyl is laid on the car, run the squeegee through the whole car wrap while applying pressure.

  • Cut out any excess vinyl with a a razor blade. Be careful not to scratch the car as well.
