Using a protectant spray on your car's dash and interior protects it, gives it a nice clean look and even tone, as well as repels dust. The problem is the vast majority of products out there make your dash glossy, which may not suit your style. Sometimes these glossy type finishes can even inhibit your ability to see out the car windshield in certain light. Here I've got a few tips on how to avoid that look and get a nice matte to semi-gloss finish on that dash.
Use your microfiber to dust off your dash. I prefer a microfiber towel which I can fold a couple of times. Gently dust off, turning to a fresh side to pick up extra dust that's left over.
Armor All has a spray "Detailer" protectant that is supposedly lower gloss. Personally I use Meguiar's "Quik Interior Detailer". This product offers only a light matte finish yet protects and cleans all the surfaces of your dash. It's safe to use on knobs and instruments as it won't create a slick surface.
Optimally, you are going to want to look for a low-gloss spray for this job (I've named a few below). But these aren't always available locally. The workaround is to spray one or two spritzes of spray onto your folded towel and then apply with the towel. This will considerably dull down a glossy product.
Don't let your towel get too moist. Keep using a fresh side to avoid applying too much. Right after you've covered everything you want give the dash a gentle rub (beginning where you first applied) with a dry side of the towel. Not letting too much product dry on the dash is key.
Since you've wiped up the excess you can allow your dash to soak in the leftover protectant. After about ten minutes again wipe down with a dry microfiber to even out the tone.
Hopefully your dash has more of a matte finish. It's still protected, it just won't blind you any longer. Not Enough gloss? Reapply with the same technique.
