How to Naturally Repair the Color Leather Seats in a Car

Leather is the most expensive material to be used for a car's interior. It is also the softest and most comfortable option. Soft leather seats can really add to the character and warmth of your vehicle. Unfortunately, if the leather is not maintained well, it can fade, discolor or even crack. However, leather seats can be cleaned and repaired using few simple steps.

Things You'll Need

  • Vacuum cleaner
  • Saddle soap
  • Cloth
  • Leather recoloring solution
  • Leather protection spray or cream
  • Vacuum clean dust and debris in between the cracks of the leather seats and off the floor. Dust and dirt prevent you from giving the seats a really good cleaning before the needed repair.

  • Rub saddle soap into the seats using a cloth. Rub the soap in with slow circular motions. Make sure to rub the soap into all parts of the seat. Let it dry before wiping it smooth with a cloth. Repeat this step for all of the seats. The saddle soap will clean and re-moisturize the leather.

  • Rub leather recoloring agent into the seats. Match the color of the recoloring agent with the color of your leather interior before applying it to the seats. Apply some of the recoloring agent to your cloth and rub it into the leather, beginning on one side of the seat and working your way to the other. Apply more of the agent as and when you need. Work it into the leather until you see the leather return to its original color. Allow the seat to dry for a day.

  • Apply leather protection to the seats. This can be sprayed on or rubbed into the seats depending on the kind of leather protector you are using. If you are spraying it on, be sure to apply it in even back and forth strokes. If you are rubbing the leather protector onto the seats, take care to rub it on in a slow and circular motion, beginning on one side and working your way across until you have covered the entire seat. Repeat this step for the other seats.
