Location of the Fuel PCV Valve on the 1995 Ford F-150

In 1992, Ford reworked the F-150's body, giving it an aerodynamic appearance. The 1995 F-150 had three engine sizes available, the 4.9-liter in-line six-cylinder, 5.0-liter V-8 and 5.8-liter V-8. All three engines had an emissions device, the positive crankcase ventilation valve, to prevent toxic gases from escaping the crankcase and entering the atmosphere. Ford recommended replacing the PCV valve every 60,000 miles. Replacing the PCV valve is a simple maintenance task, once you find it.

The Function of the PCV Valve

  • The 1995 F-150's PCV valve uses the vacuum produced by the engine to open the valve. As the engine's speed increases, the valve opens wider, allowing toxic gases from the crankcase to enter the combustion chamber. The gases then burn and eliminate toxins before they can enter the atmosphere.

Location of the PCV Valve

  • The base level 4.9-liter engine on the 1995 F-150 has the PCV valve positioned on the top of the valve cover, near the rear of the engine compartment. The 5.0-liter and 5.8-liter V-8 engines have the PCV valve on the rear of the passenger's side valve cover.

Replacing the PCV Valve

  • Pull the vacuum hose from the top of the PCV valve, using a twisting motion. Grab the PCV valve and pull it out of the rubber grommet in the valve cover with a slight twisting motion. Press a new PCV valve into the rubber grommet in the valve cover. Press the vacuum hose onto the inlet on top of the PCV valve.
