How to Install a Holden Commodore Antenna

If you've had a broken or damaged power antenna removed from your Holden Commodore, the next step is to replace it. You can take your car to the dealership and have them do it for you, but that can be expensive. Many people don't know that a power antenna can be installed on your car relatively quickly.

Things You'll Need

  • Antenna wrench
  • Open the trunk on your Holden Commodore and locate the area of the antenna where it meets the car. Notice the metal bezel at the top of the antenna compartment.

  • Use your antenna wrench to loosen the metal bezel around the antenna. An antenna wrench is a rectangular wrench with an opening made specifically for an antenna bezel.

  • Slide the bezel and its rubber covering off of the antenna and set it aside.

  • Slide the antenna out of the car until the base assembly of the antenna comes out. This assembly houses the motor and antenna cable.

  • Unplug the wiring from the base of the antenna and set the old antenna aside.

  • Plug the wires into the ports on the bottom of the new antenna assembly.

  • Angle the new antenna so it is pointing into your car and insert it base-first until it is all the way in.

  • Slide the bezel over the new antenna and use the wrench to tighten it around the top of the antenna compartment.
