There are a few reasons to remove a wiper from an Oldsmobile Cutlass. You may need to replace the wiper arm, but want to keep a working, usable wiper blade and frame. The blade itself, or the frame holding it in place could be damaged, and you need it off, so that you can replace it. Either way, getting it off the Oldsmobile Cutlass is fairly easy can can be accomplished in about a minute.
Move the Oldsmobile's wiper arm away from the windshield's glass. Place the arm in a upright, vertical position.
Move the wiper blade frame so that it forms a right angle with the Oldsmobile's arm.
Unfasten and undo the wiper frame's locking mechanism. You will find this mechanism at the middle connection point, where the arm latches into the wiper frame.
Keep one hand on the Oldsmobile's arm, and grab the frame with your other. Pull the frame off the wiper arm.
Set a dry car washing sponge onto the windshield. Lower the tip of the Oldsmobile's arm onto the sponge. This is a precautionary measure meant to protect the glass from any sort of accidental damage.
