Toyota Wiper Arm Removal

To remove a wiper arm from a Toyota, first remove the cover at the base of the arm. Remove the nut beneath, and slowly but steadily pull the arm off of the pivoting bolt.

Damage

  • Wiper arms rarely need replacing as often as wiper blade assemblies, whether on a Toyota or any other make. Damaged wiper arms usually are bent in accidents. A damaged arm can be bent back into place, but it is possible that it will not work as well afterward.

Temporary Removal

  • Both wiper arms may have to be removed on a temporary basis. If the Toyota's cowl needs to be removed, or if the wiper motor or transmission needs to be serviced or replaced, the arms will have to come off first. In such instances, it is best to mark a straight line on the bolt and the base of the arm. When you reinstall both the bolt and the arm, this will help realign the arms properly.

Wiper Blades

  • In order to get the arms off of a Toyota, the wiper blades do not need to be removed. The blades are only attached to the arms. So, if the arms are removed from the Toyota, the blades come off with them. However, if you are keeping the blades but replacing the arms, you will have to separate them.
