How to Remove the Center Bezel on a Chrysler

In Chryslers and other vehicle brands, a bezel is made from molded plastic, usually fitted around other components. A center bezel can also be referred to as a radio and control panel bezel. The method for removing this covering depends on the model and year of the Chrysler in question. Some models feature retractable cup holders and some do not. Removing the bezel, however, is usually not a case of repairing it or replacing it. The covering is in the way of radio, air conditioning, and heating wires and components. The removal process is usually the first step in other repairs.

Things You'll Need

  • Trim stick
  • Ensure that your Chrysler is off completely, especially the electrical components.

  • Locate and remove all mounting screws. Some Chryslers, such as the Town and Country, Voyager and Caravan, require you to pull open the vehicle's cup holder and remove a mounting plate first. A mounting plate can be popped off with a trim stick.

  • Slide your trim stick between the bezel and the Chrysler's dashboard. Slowly pry the bezel off. You will have to pry at several different points around the bezel. Be careful not to damage any of the mounting clips or electrical components behind the bezel.

  • Disconnect all electrical connectors, once you've loosened the bezel enough. This will allow you to lift the bezel away completely.
