How to Remove a Honda Civic Sunroof Headliner

The Honda Civic has a headliner that is fairly simple to remove, though most Civics have a dome light and sun visors that you'll need to remove before the headliner can come down. Some models of the Honda Civic, like the Si or the Ex, are equipped with a sunroof, which requires a little more work when removing the headliner. Even with a sunroof, however, the headliner in a Honda Civic can be removed in under thirty minutes.

Things You'll Need

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Flat screwdriver
  • Unscrew the two screws from the base of each sunvisor post. Pull the sunvisors down off of the headliner.

  • Pop the dome light cover off and remove the lightbulb. Remove the two screws from inside the light housing and pull the housing down.

  • Use a flat screwdriver to gently pry the plastic molding from around the sunroof. This plastic molding has a seam that meets at the rear of the sunroof. Begin here and pull the molding off. This molding is what is keeping the headliner material secure around the sunroof.

  • Pop the plastic panels off of the pillars that go from the dash to the headliner, along the front windshield. Once this is off, the headliner can be gently pulled off of the ceiling.
