The Hypertech Max Energy is a hand-held programming device that plugs into your car's computer to tune its performance, increasing engine efficiency and horsepower to improve fuel mileage. It also calibrates your speedometer, which is useful if you install tires that are larger or smaller than the original factory tires. You can also use it to read and clear diagnostic trouble codes, such as the "Check Engine Light" or "Service Needed" messages. If you need to take your car to a mechanic for repairs, you'll need to reset your car's computer, which also resets the Hypertech Max Energy back to factory settings.
Connect one end of the provided cable to the Hypertech Max Energy programmer and the other end to the diagnostic port located under the driver's side of the dash.
Insert the key in the ignition and turn it to the run position. Do not start the engine. The programmer will turn on and a message will appear on its screen reading, "To Return Vehicle to Factory Settings, Press Y. To Access Programmer Features, Press N."
Press the "Y" button on the programmer. The Hypertech Max Energy will then reset your vehicle's on-board computer to the stock programming and the programmer will reset itself to the factory default settings.
