How to Change Windshield Wipers on a Hyundai

To change the wipers on your Hyundai, you will need to know the size for your specific model. This information is easy to find. Manufacturers such as Rain-X, Michelin and Jamak all have online applications that can provide you with this information. You can also measure the blades yourself. Wiper blades are sized by inches, so if your passenger's side blade is 20 inches, you will need to buy a blade with the number 20 on the packaging.

  • Open the driver's side door, climb in and turn the Hyundai's electrical system on. Switch the wipers on for two seconds, then turn them off. This will park the blades in the middle of the windshield and will make accessing them easier.

  • Exit the vehicle. Lift the driver's side wiper arm off the glass and lock it in place.

  • Undo the safety tab at the center of the wiper. This will unlock the wiper and allow you to remove it from the arm.

  • Slide the wiper blade off the arm and discard it.

  • Align the new wiper blade's connector with the end of the wiper arm and pull the blade onto the arm. You will hear a click that indicates that the safety mechanism has engaged and locked the blade to the arm.

  • Lower the driver's side wiper arm to the windshield. Repeat the process for the passenger's side wiper blade.
