Ford Oil Sensor Location

All Fords have an oil sender, which some call a sensor. The sender sends the oil pressure to the gauge on the dash or, if your Ford has a dummy light, turns the dummy light on when the oil pressure is too low. The other sensor is an oil level sensor, which notifies the driver when the oil level in the oil pan is too low.

  • Open the hood.

  • Look for the oil sender on the side of the engine block. On most Fords, it's on the driver's side, toward the back of the block.

  • Locate the oil level sensor in the side of the oil pan. It is usually on the driver's side, near the middle of the oil pan.
