The Dodge Caliber's Boston Acoustics sound system features nine speakers, including a subwoofer, to provide a high-quality aural experience. According to Dodge.com, the stereo features the standard AM/FM/CD but also includes Sirius satellite radio and auxiliary input for .mp3 players. The unique rear articulating speakers hang from the opened liftgate, making the Dodge Caliber the perfect platform for tailgating and parties. Some owners, however, may wish to replace the speakers for better sound reproduction or a speaker may be damaged and need replacement.
Release the latch on your Dodge Caliber's liftgate or hatchback. The rear speakers are in the liftgate. Release the latch on the speaker tray to allow it to swing down, facing the rear of the vehicle.
Use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the 10 screws that secure the rear speaker enclosure to the front speaker enclosure. Remove the wiring connector from the speaker. The wiring connector will fit only one way on the speaker, so you won't have to worry about reversing polarity on the speaker wires.
Use your Phillips screwdriver again to remove the two screws holding the speaker to the front speaker enclosure.
Place the speaker back into the front speaker enclosure. Reinsert the screws to secure the speaker to the front speaker enclosure and tighten them with your Phillips screwdriver. Clip the speaker wire connectors onto your new speaker.
Turn your Dodge Caliber's ignition to "On" to check how well the new speaker works. Turn the ignition "Off." Place the rear speaker enclosure on the liftgate and use your Phillips screwdriver to secure it to the liftgate.
