How to Remove the Middle Seat in a Toyota Sienna

Some models of the Toyota Sienna, which comes with three rows of seats, can carry nine passengers. The van is designed to be versatile, and if you need to carry larger loads or reconfigure the interior a bit, you can do so fairly easily. Removing the seats will take about 15 minutes and it doesn't take any special tools, but it does require a bit of heavy lifting, as the seats are not very light.

  • Open the rear door. Locate the lever on the side of the middle seat. Pull it up with your hand and fold the seat forward as far as it will go.

  • Locate the black strap at the bottom of the seat. Pull the strap up with your hand to release the seat from its mounts. Pick the seat up out of the mount.

  • Position yourself so you can lift the seat out of the interior of the van. Lift it using both hands and then carry it out of the vehicle. If necessary, ask someone to help you.
