How Do You Change a 2007 Mazda 6's Headlight Bulbs?

The 2007 Mazda 6's headlight bulbs are high intensity discharge headlamps. These special headlights emit a very bright bluish-white light and employ xenon gas to provide superior lighting performance over traditional halogen headlights. The HID bulbs for your Mazda 6 have a service life of roughly 3,000 hours. However, you should try to replace the headlights before the headlights fail. Most auto parts stores carry replacement HID bulbs for the Mazda 6.

Things You'll Need

  • Replacement HID headlights
  • Open the hood of your Mazda 6 and unplug the power connector that runs to the back of the headlight.

  • Pull the rubber boot off of the back of the headlight and housing assembly.

  • Turn the headlight counter-clockwise 1/4 turn and pull it out of the housing assembly.

  • Insert the new headlight and rotate the headlight clockwise to secure it to the housing. Since the HID bulb is very skinny, you need to be careful not to damage it when inserting it into the housing assembly.

  • Replace the rubber boot and reconnect the power connector.
