How to Change the Rear Turn Signal Bulb on a Ford Focus ZX3

You should never neglect a burned-out bulb, especially a turn signal indicator. When a turn signal bulb fails on your Ford Focus ZX3, other drivers are unaware when you are about to turn or change lanes. You can replace a turn signal bulb in your Focus ZX3 at home in just a few minutes. Buy a 3057 Halogen bulb for your Focus ZX3's rear turn signals at most auto parts retailers or Ford dealerships.

Things You'll Need

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Wrench set
  • Open the trunk of your Focus ZX3. Remove the two plastic screws securing the taillight cover, using a Phillips screwdriver. Pull the cover away from the taillight unit.

  • Remove the two nuts securing the taillight unit using a wrench. Pull the taillight forward away from the trunk.

  • Turn the bulb socket counterclockwise to release it from the taillight unit. You want to remove the top bulb in the group to replace the turn signal indicator. Pull the bulb socket out of the assembly and pull the top bulb straight out of the socket.

  • Insert the new bulb straight into the bulb socket. Insert the bulb socket into the taillight unit and turn it clockwise to lock it in place. Reposition the taillight unit and secure it with the two retaining nuts. Tighten the nuts with a wrench.

  • Replace the plastic cover and secure it with the plastic screws. Tighten the screws with a Phillips screwdriver. Repeat the process on the opposite side if needed. Close the trunk and test the turn signals.
