How to Install Power Steering Pump Hose in a PT Cruiser

The power steering hose on the Chrysler PT Cruiser distributes power steering fluid into the steering components. Without the hoses properly connected to the power steering pump and the input output valve, the power steering will not work. Any auto parts store will have the hoses and securing nuts. You will need a comfortable, well-lit area to complete this task properly. You will also need a pair of pliers and the power-steering hoses.

Things You'll Need

  • Power-steering hose
  • Power-steering hose securing nuts
  • Pliers
  • Open the hood of the PT Cruiser. Locate the power-steering pump. The power-steering pump will be mounted to the fire wall on the driver side of the engine compartment.

  • Place the securing nut over the top of the output hose. Place the top of the hose over the output stem on the bottom of the power-steering pump. Use the pliers to tighten the nut.

  • Lead the power-steering hose down to the power-steering valve. The power-steering valve will be mounted to the fire wall below the power steering pump. The power-steering valve will have an input connection on the top.

  • Place a securing nut onto the bottom of the power-steering hose. Place the power-steering hose into the input. Use the pliers the tighten the nut securing the hose into the valve.
