How to Clean a Dometic RV Refrigerator

The refrigerator in a recreational vehicle is put through much more abuse than the refrigerator sitting int he average suburban home. In addition to dealing with shifting contents brought on by movement, RV refrigerators must also deal with changes in inclination. Keeping your refrigerator clean is a must for healthy living and requires a little extra attention when that refrigerator is in an RV. This guide provides the steps to properly clean a dometic RV refrigerator.

Things You'll Need

  • Compressed air canister Mixing bowl Water Dish-washing soap Non-abrasive sponge

Cleaning the Propane Burner

  • Locate the burner with the help of your manual.

  • Gently blow any soot or other residue off of the burner with the can of compressed air.

  • Ensure that the spark gap is set at a proper width, approximately 3/16 of an inch, being sure to make any needed adjustments to the metal, not to the wire electrode.

  • Remove any build-up from the flue enclosure with the compressed air canister.

Cleaning the Interior

  • Empty the refrigerator of all food or drink products.

  • Prepare a bowl of warm water and dish-washing soap.

  • Use a wet rag or non-abrasive sponge to wipe down the inside of the refrigerator.

  • Dry the inside of the refrigerator thoroughly before reloading.
