How to Troubleshoot the Mazda Millenia

The Mazda Millenia was manufactured from 1995 to 2002. Like many other cars that hit the market in the mid-1990s, the Millenia took advantage of electronic problem-scanning technology. Equipped with ODB II scanning ports, Mazda Millenia's problems can be troubleshooted with the help of diagnostic scanners.

Things You'll Need

  • OBD-II Scanner
  • Visit your local auto parts retailer, mechanic or Mazda dealer to get a diagnostic code scanner for your Mazda Millennia. Ensure that the code scanner is OBD II.

  • Find the diagnostic port of the Mazda Millennia under the steering wheel in the foot well. Depending on the year of Millennia, the location of the diagnostic port will vary.

  • Plug in the diagnostic code scanner into the port. Power on the Millenia's electronics system by either starting the engine or turning the ignition key into the accessories position. Power on the scanner.

  • Wait for the diagnostic scanner to work and come up with any problem codes. Write down any codes that the scanner displays and check what they mean with online sources or give them to your mechanic.
