How to Troubleshoot a Hornet Car Security System

Hornet car security systems employ multi-level arming, warn-away alarms, event history storing and status LED lights. The system is able to engage remote valet, power door locks and power trunk features. With the large amount of cars stolen each year, keeping current with your alarm system is essential. Familiarize yourself with features such as valet, warn-away and panic modes.

  • Disarm the system, turning on the ignition if you have misplaced the transmitter. Press the valet switch within 15 seconds. If the system does not disarm, you may have waited too long. Switch off the ignition and then switch it on again to try again.

  • Press the button on the left side of the transmitter to disarm the siren chirps. The confirmation chirps will be eliminated for that one operation only. If you need to arm or disarm the chirps permanently, have your dealer do this for you.

  • Eliminate the warn-away response to lighter impacts by arming the system in "Silent Mode." This will ensure that no chirps will be heard from the siren in an area that you wish to remain chirp free. The system will still be able to trigger, only the warn-away feature will be eliminated.

  • Prevent the system from automatically arming and triggering by using the "Valet Mode." This can be used when washing the car or having it serviced. All other functions such as doors, locks and trunk release will function normally. Turn the ignition to the "run" position, then turn it off again. Press and release the "Valet" switch within 10 seconds. The Status LED will light when you have entered Valet Mode and go out when you exit Valet Mode.

  • Press the button on the left-hand side of the transmitter for two seconds to engage the Panic Mode. The siren will sound and the parking lights will flash for 30 seconds. Press the same button to deactivate Panic Mode.

  • Press the button on the left-hand side of the transmitter to arm the system while driving. The system will chirp twice to indicate that the system is activated. To deactivate the system, press the same button once again.
