How Do I Remove the Tail Lights on a Scion TC?

A Toyota Scion TC has three tail lights, one on each side of the car and one in the center. When tail lights burn out or break, they will need to be replaced for safety's sake as well as to avoid a fix-it ticket. Removing tail lights on a Scion is not a difficult task and can be done without any prior auto repair experience in less than 20 minutes.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket wrench
  • Flat head screwdriver
  • Locate the tail light assembly in the trunk of the Scion. It is located behind the lights. Use a flat head screwdriver to pry the cover off of the tail light assembly.

  • Disconnect the electrical wiring on all three bulbs. Push down on the release tab and pull the connector off of each bulb.

  • Turn the bulb in a counterclockwise direction until it pulls out of the assembly.

  • Remove the nuts and bolts from the Scion's lighting assembly with the socket wrench.
