How to Reset the Oil Change Light on a Lexus

Not everything operates the way you expect it to. So when you see the oil service light come on in your Lexus dashboard, do not get upset. Sometimes the indicator light is triggered by a short in the wire, or bug in the computer system. It may not directly relate to the late time you took the car in for an oil change. There is a simple way to reset this light.

  • Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position.

  • Wait 10 seconds with the key in the "Off" position. Make sure the odometer reading is at 0. This is to ensure that the engine and motor are not running. The car must be fully powered down before proceeding. This will prevent any damage to the car.

  • Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position while holding down the trip meter reset button. This button should be located on your dash next to the odometer.

  • Hold the button until the oil light turns off. The light will become bright for a few seconds then flash, and then become bright again before going off.
