Oil Recommendations for the 1995 BMW 325i

In 1995, BMW added a new hatchback to its existing coupe, sedan and convertible versions of the 3 Series. The 325i, however, was only available in the sedan and convertible body styles. BMW had specific guidelines for the type and weight of oil used in the 1995 325i in various temperature ranges.

Oil Recommendations

  • In temperatures between -40 and 4 degrees F, BMW says the 1995 325i can use SAE 5W-20 engine oil. Between -40 and 23 degrees F, BMW says that SAE 5W-30 engine oil is acceptable. From -22 to 41 degrees F, BMW recommends using 10W-30 oil. Between -22 and 59 degrees F, BMW says that the 325i can use 10W-40 oil. From -4 to 86 degrees F, BMW says you can run 15W-40 in the 325i. In warmer temperatures, from -4 to 104 degrees F, 15W-50 engine oil is acceptable. Between 14 and 122 degrees F, BMW says that 20W-50 engine oil is acceptable in the 1995 325i.

    BMW recommends using only synthetic versions of the aforementioned oils in temperatures between -22 and 86 degrees F.
