Many vehicles might not recognize that they have new oil when you change it because the warning is designed to show up whenever you pass a certain amount of miles. After you change the oil, you must reset the system to remind you to change the oil at a later time. Ford vehicles include a way for you to reset this in minutes.
Start your vehicle and leave the engine running.
Shift to "P" on your transmission. This puts the car in parking mode.
Press the "Setup" button on your dashboard repeatedly until you reach "Change Oil."
Hold down the "Reset" button for some seconds until you hear a beep. This signifies that you reset the oil monitor.
