Motorcraft 5W20 Oil Specifications

Ford has been selling products under its house brand, Motorcraft, for many years. Through Motorcraft, the company produces many different engine oils, including the semi-synthetic 5w20 oil. Ford recommends this oil for most of its late model vehicles.

Viscosity Rating

  • All oils are given a viscosity rating by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). The rating given to the Motorcraft 5w20 oil is that of an everyday, normal-use oil. The 5 and the "W" attached to it signify the oil's winter rating, and the larger number, 20, signifies its summer rating.

  • Motorcraft's 5w20 oil has a physical weight of 28.36 pounds per gallon. It has a flash point of 439 degrees. The oil, a blend of synthetic material and natural oils, meets API Service SM standards, meaning it is acceptable for usage in most older model vehicles.

Applications

  • The oil has been tested in both subzero weather and desert heat situations. It is designed by Ford and recommended for vehicles in the Ford, Lincoln and Mercury lines of automobiles.
