Having the tires inflated to the proper pressure in your VW Jetta is a safety and efficiency issue. In the past, checking the pressure in your tires was a pain because you had to lean in and try to read the dial of an old-fashioned gauge. It is now possible with a digital reader.
Obtain a tire gauge. Use a digital gauge if you would like to view a digital reading or have the gauge speak the reading to you. You can get these at just about any automotive parts store.
Allow the tires of your Jetta to cool down as friction from driving heats up your tires. The hotter your tires get, the more the air inside will expand. This will skew the results, which is something you don't want.
Remove and keep track of the caps on your valve stems. Tire valve caps have a way of skipping away from you. Keep these in a safe place or put them in your pocket.
Press the tire gauge to each valve stem. You need to get the right angle and pressure to make sure air isn't simply escaping. Press hard and directly over the stem. Press the "On" button, if you're using a digital gauge.
Look at the digital display on your digital display. Pull the analog gauge off your tire and look at the stick reading. Listen carefully to hear the talking tire gauge. Perhaps you'll want to write down the results so you don't forget them.
Inflate or deflate your Jetta tires as needed.
Return the caps to their valve stems.
