Assembling A Chassis For A Ford F-100 - Tech Articles - Classic Trucks Magazine

Package Deal Part VIII

Fresh from Specialized Coatings, we now had the chassis from the "World's First 100-percent Aftermarket Classic Truck" back in our possession at the Primedia Tech Center. While the Bebop's fiberglass cab, Pro's Pick steel bed, and every other body panel were off at Paint 'n' Place getting prepped for paint (about which you'll be reading very soon), we had the time to reassemble the chassis; this time actually torqing the bolts, bleeding the brakes, etc. The goal here was to have as much done on the chassis as possible so that there would be less work to do when the cab and chassis were finally reunited. We'll have a rolling chassis by the end of this installment, and next month we'll set the Smeding crate 351 and TCI AODE transmission in place, and bolt on all the cool components we got for them, namely the Edelbrock carb, Sanderson headers, Powermaster starter, and especially the cool new Ford serpentine accessory drive from Concept One.
