In these tough economic times it's nice to see a company bringing new products to market which are friendly to the racer's budget. Let's face it, money is tight and getting the most for it will make everybody feel better.
Aluminum Throttle Pedal Assembly
Coleman Racing Products, the Menominee, Michigan-based racing component manufacturer has just introduced two new pedal assemblies for the racer on a budget; an Aluminum Throttle Pedal Assembly and a Steel Brake Pedal Assembly.
The steel brake pedal features a redesigned formed steel base that incorporates a brace for extra rigidity. The pedal's unique one-piece design balance bar eliminates the mono-ball bearing. The all-steel construction includes an extra long, extra wide sure grip foot pad for a comfortable feel along with a 5.5:1 pedal ratio. From the pivot to the top of the pedal is a tall 10.5 inches giving plenty of room for even the biggest of feet. The brake pedal fits standard master cylinders and firewall mounts and carries a suggested retail price of $89.99.
Like the brake pedal, Coleman redesigned its new throttle pedal assembly with the budget in mind bringing it to market at the same $89.99 economical retail price as the brake pedal. Coleman says that this throttle pedal incorporates all of the same high-quality features as its high-end throttle pedal, including oil-lite bronze pivot bushings and a precision-ground pivot shaft. Both of these features help ensure smooth, trouble-free operation. The new throttle pedal includes a formed foot pad as well as a formed toe hook. We particularly like the beefy looking design of the toe hook, a nice safety feature to tackle those sticky situations if the throttle linkage ever hangs open. It's available with a straight, 9-degree, or 18-degree mounting flange so that racers can choose the position that best fits their driving styles.
Steel Brake Pedal Assembly
On both of these new pedal assemblies Coleman utilized a new proprietary machining process to keep the costs down. They are a great way to add looks, style, and functionality to your race car without breaking the bank. No doubt you should be seeing these assemblies show up at the track soon.
