Engine Coolant Booster - Give Your Radiator A Boost

It's common knowledge that the job of your radiator is to keep your motor cool and operating within an acceptable temperature range. It accomplishes this task by reducing the temperature of the water (or coolant) that runs through your engine. The radiator sends cool water circulating through the water jacket. As that water passes through the motor it extracts heat from the motor, and in turn gets warmer. That hot water returns to the radiator to be cooled down. It then exits the radiator and goes back into the engine to start the whole process over again.

Theoretically, the cooler that water is when it enters the engine, the more heat can be extracted from the motor. While that may be an oversimplified statement, the bottom line is that if you can lower the engine entry temperature of that water even just a few degrees then you can increase its cooling ability. This is the very fact that led to the development of coolant/water additives.

AMSOIL, the Superior, Wisconsin-based manufacturer of synthetic lubricants, has just introduced its new Dominator Coolant Boost. The product is designed to deliver racers significantly lower operating temperatures and quicker engine warm-up times, by providing effective heat transfer and enhanced corrosion protection. The net result is more efficient operation and increased horsepower.

AMSOIL achieves this through a special formulation that features something it calls proprietary tiered surfactant technology. While the quick and effective heat transfer inside radiators and cylinder heads leads to better cooling, Dominator Coolant Boost also contains a robust mixture of corrosion inhibitors that offer maximum protection for the radiator, water pump, cylinder heads, engine block, and intake manifold.

To back up its claims, AMSOIL conducted a Temperature Reduc-tion Dynamometer Test. The results showed that water treated with Dominator Coolant Boost provided a 19-degree temperature reduction. It also easily passed the Aluminum Corrosion Test (ASTM D-4340) with a weight loss of 0.14 mg/cm2/wk2, where weight loss of less than one milligram is required to pass. In the Metal Corrosion Test (ASTM D-2570), which tests corrosion in all metals common to cooling systems, AMSOIL Dominator Coolant Boost also showed a significantly reduced weight loss.

AMSOIL recommends Dominator Coolant Boost for both racing applications using straight water or coolant and automotive applications using 50/50 coolant/water mixtures, which means you can not only use it in your race car but in your tow vehicle as well. The MSRP is $11.10 for a 16-ounce bottle.
