Filter Solutions Technologies, aka FST Performance, has recently brought its FloMax filtration systems to the oval track racing industry. The FloMax 300 and 300M represent a significant advancement in filtration technology for the racer by combining technologies used in the heavy-duty and aviation industries. The filter traces its origins from the inventor's experience in the commercial filtration industry where he identified shortcomings in conventional systems and designed a fresh concept which offers the highest filtration efficiency.
The FloMax 300 comes in a red anodized finish combined with the premium silver filter making for a striking appearance.
The FloMax 300/300M has a very high fuel flow capability of 300 gallons per hour as well as an extremely low fuel flow restriction. Those two features coupled with a highly efficient 5-micron filtration rate and water separation make it a very innovative and efficient system. Manufactured from solid billet aluminum, there are no O-rings, gaskets, or seals to leak or swell. Lightweight and compact, the filter is compatible with gasoline, racing fuel, ethanol, and methanol.
Both versions of the filter incorporate a unique EZMOUNT integral mounting flange which allows easy mounting to either a tubular chassis rail or surface mount. It also features multiple fuel port inlets to provide the utmost in installation flexibility, allowing installation on the suction or pressure side of the fuel system. The easily replaceable spin-on filter element requires no messy canister or screen cleaning and totally eliminates any chance of fuel system contamination. The FloMax 300 was designed to combine ultra high efficiency fuel filtration in the smallest possible package and is only 4 inches tall. Its bigger brother, the 300M is twice as tall at 8 inches but only weighs 45 ounces.
We had the opportunity to test a FloMax 300M during our recent Project G.R.E.E.N. track test which you can read more about in the upcoming January issue of Circle Track. The filter performed flawlessly, was a snap to install and never blinked an eye despite being fed large amounts of race gas and E85 back to back during the three-day test. Savvy racers will love the 300M for a variety of reasons including its extra capacity.

FST Performance Products was formerly Ramco Performance Manufacturing. Rick Rollins, owner of Rollins Performance and current Chairman of the Board of SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association), purchased Ramco's line of high-performance fuel filters and formed FST around those products. One of his stated goals is to bring the FloMax technology to oval track racers around the country. He's off to a good start having already won the endorsement of veteran engine builder Keith Dorton.
