Paint Saving System - Take Your Finish From Clean To Spectacular

Like any good rodder you wash your ride regularly so you're sure it's as clean as it can be, right? Wrong! There are "surface contaminants" that washing alone won't remove. That's where Mothers California Gold Clay Bar Paint Saving System comes in. The clay is specifically designed to remove overspray, tree sap, bits of dust, and other paint-damaging contaminants that become embedded in the clearcoat of your car's paint.

The humble clay bar can make the difference between just a clean car and a spectacular finish that not only looks superb, but also passes "the touch test" with flying colors. Run your hand over your car's hood, trunk, and fenders. Does the paint feel as smooth as glass, allowing your hand to glide over the surface? Or does it feel more like fine-grit sandpaper? Chances are, it's the latter...you need to clay the surface.

Mothers' clay bar is very malleable and comes with Showtime Instant Detailer to lubricate the surface, making it even easier to use. It also works on a variety of surfaces, including plastic, trim, and glass, as well as on uncoated matte plastics. You can even use it to remove paint over-spray from chrome or any other hard, shiny surface.

Always start with a clean car and follow the clay with a good wax (use a product such as Mothers California Gold Carnauba Cleaner Wax-a 4-ounce sample bottle is included in the Paint Saving System). This and many other car-care subjects are all covered in the Mothers Detail Guide at www.detailguide.com.

Not everyone knows how to use a clay bar, but the process is really quite simple. Follow the photos as Mothers' car-care specialist Craig Burnett shows us the simple steps to a spectacular paint finish, including some inside tips. For our demonstration we worked on a silver street rod in the parking lot of the SRM Tech Center.
