Back in the day when I bought my first car, the dealers didn't allow you to have whatever combinations of interior/exterior colors that you wanted. You were stuck with whatever they thought was the best combination, and you had to live with it for as long as you owned the car. My car was black with a burgundy interior. Not black, or gray...burgundy. And I hated it. The only other option at the time was to go to a junkyard and gut the interior from a similar car that was in a color you liked, or get the entire thing reupholstered. Neither method would produce the desired results. Now, thanks to places like Wet Works Garage in Stanton, California, we can have our cake and sit in it too. Wet Works Garage has perfected the technique of interior painting, allowing for color-matched interior parts that look like smoothed fiberglass, but retain the original materials' flexibility, and resist cracking.

We spoke to Joe Delio, owner and proprietor of Wet Works Garage, and conned him into redoing an interior for us while we photographed and ate Jack in the Box.

The Low Down
MSRP: $35-$50 per part
Pros: Now you can have the interior color you want
Cons: If you try to do it yourself, it will probably look like crap
Verdict: Definitely a cool way to enhance an otherwise dull and uninspired interior
