In Your Wildest Dreams - Tech Article - Honda Tuning Magazine

Every time we do an NSX article somebody asks me why. They'll usually go on about the fact that most of our readers drive Civics, Integras, Preludes, the occasional S2000, and hopefully soon, the Fit. Why then do we do features and especially tech stories on the illustrious Honda supercar? Because they are bad ass; and even though I don't own one, nor is one anywhere on my horizon, I still get all schoolgirl-ish at the mere sight of one whether in real life or between the covers of HT. That's why when Eugene Castro from Pro Street Import in La Mirada, Calif., called us up with news of an impending Comptech Blower install on a '97 NSX-T, we jumped at the chance.

I walked into the shop assuming that we'd be supercharging some old man's stock NSX garage queen. Turn's out the car belongs to a friend of Eugene's, and was about as far from stock as it gets. A set of Volks sat under the aluminum fenders and quarter panels over Brembo Supertourismo's in the front and the back. Even without the mess of ARC engine bling and Comptech suspension parts, this car was hot. All it needed now was a blower.

Comptech's blower setup for the NSX is designed in house to create a linear increase in power throughout the whole rev range. The blower itself is a twin screw design which provides constant boost as opposed to a roots blower's surging effect. A twin screw also has lower intake temperatures which makes them 10-15 percent more efficient than a roots blower. Unlike centrifugal-type superchargers, these blowers provide almost instant boost, which means power wherever you need it. The Comptech kit is also CARB legal, and has the almost $11,000 price tag to prove it.

If any of you readers hit the lottery, win big, and buy an NSX... buy me one too... and a couple of these blower kits to go with 'em. Until then, we'll just be jealous of this guy's.
