Tires are the backbone of any car, the single barrier between the wheels and the road-they're what give your Civic that smooth, rubbery drive you've grown accustomed to. But more importantly, tires play an important role in slowing your car down from, say, an 80-mph sprint, gripping onto whatever they can on the road to bring your beast to a stop. Despite all that you know about brakes and suspensions, tires are indeed one of the most important aspects of both and should be heavily considered before modifying either.

Not all of Honda Tuning's project vehicles are modified, like its daily driver '06 TSX-the one you've rarely seen. So when the factory Michelins finally began to show cords, we looked to BFGoodrich for its new g-Force T/A KDW tire. BFG's new g-Force tire is, to put it bluntly, impressive. For unrivaled grip in both wet and dry conditions, look no further than the g-Force line. Of course, all of these letters actually mean something. The "K" in KDM stands for "Key Feature." The "D" means "Dry," and the "W," "Wet." All of this put together suggests that this is a tire that'll perform well in rough driving conditions as well as during ideal ones. It is. Just a few of the seemingly endless features on the KDW include g-Control sidewall inserts, which resist deflection for added control during high-speed cornering-something this TSX does little of but is still a welcomed feature-and a unidirectional racing-influenced tread that provides exceptional wet-and-dry traction and handling with the lowest amount of noise. Deep, wide grooves help to speed water evacuation and reduce hydroplaning, while the large CAD-designed tread elements provide unrivaled stability, wear, and handling under high torque loads. They also feature a rim protector-so no more worrying about scratching those Volks-or in our case, our stockers-with these tires. BFG has you covered.

Never a chirp or a peep out of the KDWs, they prove to be one of the quietest tires around. But none of this comes at the expense of traction losses while cornering or accelerating. To be sure, the g-Force KDWs grip, and well, even during the unusual Southern California downpour we experienced during our initial test-drive. Yes, whether rain or shine, the KDWs deliver.

If you haven't gotten it by now, the KDWs have phenomenal grip, despite the weather, so don't be afraid to corner a little bit quicker than you would with those stock tires. The superior tread design means exceptional handling, especially in those wet, rainy, or snow-blown conditions when you need it most. These tires laugh at sharp turns and curves, gripping hard under excessive braking, and won't wear nearly as fast as regular old street tire fare
