Banks 1.0 Turbo Housing Install

Want to add a little more towing power along with some performance? Follow along as we add a Banks 1.0 turbo housing to an OBS Ford F-250. The Banks 1.0 turbo housing is a smaller housing than the factory version. A smaller housing means quicker spoolup, and that equals more power. Not only will you notice the turbo spooling up faster, you will notice a difference in throttle response, too. One thing about these smaller housings is, if you do not have an intercooler installed, you could see your EGT rise a bit. But not enough to get all worried about. We called on Ford diesel guru Bill Cohron at Power Hungry Performance in Winder, Georgia, to install this turbo housing. Bill previously installed a Banks Techni-Cooler on this truck, so he will be here again for the install of this turbo housing. Once the housing was installed, Bill strapped the truck to his dyno machine to see what kind of numbers she would throw down. After three or four runs on the dyno, we were pleased to see the numbers. The truck saw about 3 more pounds of boost, which made more power and torque to the tune of around 20 extra hp and 60 to 80 lb-ft of torque. Not a bad way to add some more towing and performance power to your OBS Ford truck. There it is. It only took Bill three hours for the install with a lot of basic tools. If you own one of these trucks and tow a lot or plan on installing some performance parts, this is a great option.
