A Teardown Of The 2008 Ford F250 Reveals Transmission Troubles

In the year or so since Project Godzilla has been around, the '08 Ford F-250 has led a pretty hard life. It makes more than 500 hp at the wheels and has cranked out 700 hp on the dyno and run in the low 12s on the dragstrip. With most of the stock parts designed for about 290 hp at the wheels, we figured it would be a good time to do a complete durability check of the entire drivetrain, since the truck would be receiving even more turbocharger and fueling upgrades. So the truck was shipped off to Elite Diesel in Pueblo West, Colorado, where it was put under the knife to determine how the '08 6.4L-powered Ford Super Duty held up to a year's worth of hard use.
